Music at the Museum

What is it? A collaborative fundraiser of music, art, wine and hors d’orvres, sponsored by the Symphony League and the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) docents to raise funds for their respective educational programs.

When is it? Usually the last Monday of the month of January, from 5:30pm — 8:30pm

Where is it held? The Great Hall of the San Antonio Museum of Art. A Silent Auction and Wine Pull precede the concert program.

How can I help? Members are needed to be on the planning committee — a joint committee of League and SAMA docents. The committee meets 4-6 times (Aug-Jan) coordinating all the details from soliciting for donations (in-kind or cash), soliciting items for the silent auction, coordinating with the musicians who volunteer their time from SAS, the Mastersingers, designing invitations and programs, and other general event duties.

How many volunteers are needed? We would like to have 2 to 4 permanent committee members and 8 members who help the night of the event with such things as: silent auction set-up, wine pull set-up, door greeters, tally of silent auction results and other duties as assigned.

This is a really fun committee to work on and a way to get to know a fantastic art organization, working together with SAMA docents. It’s a very easy ask when soliciting for items or cash donations. The committee is well organized; forms and processes are in place, so no need to start from scratch!! It’s a rewarding experience to know you are helping to raise funds for our Young People's Concerts and other educational purposes. It’s also a great way to get to know our SAS musicians on a personal level.
